About Us
We're the Future Leaders Initiative SL, an organization driven by a heartfelt mission to end violence against children, women, and girls across Sierra Leone. Founded by Ibrahim S Bangura, a survivor of corporal punishment and other forms of violence, our journey is rooted in a deeply personal commitment to ensure the welfare, survival, and flourishing of every vulnerable child.
Our Story: The seeds of Future Leaders Initiative SL were sown from the experiences of its founder, Ibrahim S Bangura. Having endured the impact of corporal punishment and other forms of violence, Ibrahim's determination to break the cycle and protect future generations ignited the creation of this organization. His personal journey forms the backbone of our dedication to eradicate violence from all learning settings.
Our Purpose: At FLI-SL, our sole purpose is clear: to bring an end to violence against children, women, and girls. With a passionate focus on learning environments across Sierra Leone, we are committed to transforming the lives of the most vulnerable among us.
Our Vision: We envision a Sierra Leone where every child grows up in an environment free from fear and violence, where women and girls are empowered to thrive, and where communities stand as protectors of their future leaders.
Our Mission: Our mission is to protect, promote, empower, and educate women, girls, and children about their human rights and responsibilities by providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and platforms. We do this by raising awareness about critical issues such as corporal punishment, child maltreatment, child sexual abuse, emotional abuse, domestic violence, female genital mutilation, and child marriage. We are driven by the belief that education and awareness are potent tools in dismantling the barriers that perpetuate violence.
Vision: We envision creating an environment free from all forms of violence against children, women, and girls.
Goal: Leading the way for the next generation to achieve its sustainable development through education and empowerment
Our Commitment: FLI-SL is more than an organization; it is a devoted mechanism designed to address the needs and well-being of children, women, and girls. Non-political and non-profit, we operate exclusively for charitable purposes, working tirelessly to uplift lives and inspire change.
Official Recognition: We have been in existence since November 10th, 2018 and became a registered Youth Serving Agency [YSA] , with the National Youth Commission of Sierra Leone, August 20th, 2019.
